It's a definite barometer, when police follow and 'chase' graffiti it usually leads to gang activity and crime.

Such was the case this week, leading to an arrest but in a venue not expected. Thursday, Kennewick police said they arrested a 16-year-old in Moses Lake, linked to a sudden rise in gang graffiti seen in East Kennewick.

Their investigation led detectives to Moses Lake, where a search warrant on a home led to the arrest. Case specifics were not divulged by authorities, it's presumed this is part of a longer and deeper probe into criminal activity.

Officials stress to the public to report noticeable increases in graffiti, especially if it's not been seen in their neighborhood before.
