Mid Columbia Recovery Center Opens, Patient Treatments Begin in Kennewick

The original plan was to have the center operational by May 1st, but after some delays, it's officially open.

For the longest time, the demand far outstripped local capacity, especially for individuals who had emergency mental health issues or substance abuse led to LE calls.  Officers often had to take them to emergency rooms, because local intake centers were full.

  When Trios Closed the Auburn Campus, The Building Became an Option

When Trios moved the last of their operations, including the birthing center, to Southridge in 2022, the Auburn campus became an 'expendable' structure. Now, the facility is operating. According to information releases from its operator, Yakima-based Comprehensive Healthcare, two of the four programs are treating patients.

 Two Of the Four Comprehensive Programs are Up and Running

They are the Crisis Stabilization Center, which helps voluntary patients who need longer-term care, and the  Co-Occurring Residential Treatment Center. It helps people who have a mental health diagnosis along with substance abuse.

Two More Programs Awaiting Final State approval of their pharamcy licenses. When fully operational, approximately 144 staff will oversee the programs, and it has 64 beds to house patients.  Now, law enforcement has a place to bring emergency cases to, as well as public access.

The Center had been slated to open May 1st, but had to clear a few more logistical local hurdles before opening its doors.
