Tuesday Morning DUI Lands Truck in Kennewick Canal
Kennewick Police and Fire units were dispatched early Tuesday morning for a report of a truck that had gone into an irrigation canal, not far from the GESA Credit Union near 27th and Union.
According to Police, the white pickup, driven by 57-year-old Robin Berry, was eastbound on Creekstone Drive along the canal and failed to negotiate a curve.
The truck drove straight into the water not far from South Williams Place. According to unconfirmed reports, surveillance video from a nearby business shows the truck just drove straight into the canal with a large splash, and didn't try to follow the curve. One witness claimed the truck never slowed down and just plowed into the water.
Fortunately Berry was not injured and was extricated from the sunken rig, but Police said on-site tests showed she was driving under the influence.
She's now facing DUI charges at the Benton County Jail. The investigation continues.
