In light of what's been occurring in some police departments around the nation, the Umatilla County Commissioners issued a resolution at the end of their Wednesday meeting indicating they are fully behind and support the law enforcement agencies in the county.

From Police to the County Deputies, the three commissioners statement included the following:

“The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners strongly objects to the horrific act that took place in the City of Minneapolis ... at the same time, we are also troubled by a movement across the country to disregard and disrespect the 800,000 sworn officers who have taken an oath to protect the citizenry and preserve the peace,”

According to news reports, Commissioner John Shafer, who worked as a dispatcher for the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, has sent a letter of support to area law enforcement back on June 9.
