Van Plows Into Irrigation Canal, Officials Not Sure if Occupied

Benton County Sheriff's Deputies and a dive and rescue team (Presumably Columbia Basin Dive-Rescue) are investigating a mini van that went into an irrigation canal shortly after noon Monday.

Sources say the mini van went off the road near Olson and North County Line Road, just east of Grandview. No word if any witnesses or what led to the crash, but pictures posted by KEPR TV showed the sunroof of the van visible in about six inches of water. The van was completely immersed in the large canal.

Dive teams are on the scene, because at this time, it is NOT known if anyone still inside. More information expected soon.
