Richland Police are investigating an early morning shooting that took place at a city park.

At about 3:20 Friday morning Police Officers were called to a local medical facility where a gunshot wound victim was being treated.

After investigation, Richland Police learned that the victim and and a friend were at a Richland City park at 1180 Glenwood Court. They were at the park around 1 am.

While at the park, several people approached the victim's vehicle. At about 3 am, they became uncomfortable and decided to leave.

As they were driving away, an unidentified person fired several shots at the vehicle. Many of the bullets hit the vehicle. The victim was struck several times. The friend was not injured in the shooting.

This remains an active investigation by Richland Police Detectives.
