Remember when getting up at 5 or 6am to be in line by 7am Black Friday was considered "crazy?"I still recall years ago-when Wal-Mart was still on Canal-standing in line probably around 5:30am in snow, drinking coffee, and wondering why I had let my wife convince me to go.  We did succeed in getting the kids their razor scooters, though.

Now, the latest salvo has been fired by Wal-Mart.  It was announced Thursday Wal-Mart will launch their Black Friday events 8pm Thanksgiving night.   It wasn't that long ago that other retailers "shocked" people by opening doors at 12:01am Friday!   When will it end?  For me, by 8pm, the third NFL game won't even be over yet!

What are your thoughts?  What will this do to families of employees?   In radio, we've all worked our share of Thanksgiving shifts, so have convenience store workers, police, fire, hospitals etc.   But outside of what are considered necessary or semi-necessary services,  Thanksgiving is supposed to be for family.

I will say though,  we have some relatives in Idaho who are retail managers.  Even though they did get Thanksgiving off, they had to hit the hay early Thursday evening just so they could be at their store at 3 or 4am.

Take our poll.  Do you think kicking off Black Friday at 8pm on Thanksgiving is too early?
