Kennewick Police have apprehended a suspect who allegedly threatened a Loss Prevention Officer (LOP) with a gun at Walmart.

LOSS PREVENTION OFFICER HAD OFFICIAL CONCEAL-CARRY LICENSE

Around 12:46 PM Kennewick Officers responded to 9-1-1 calls about a shooting in the parking lot of the Kennewick Walmart location.

Additional 9-1-1- calls claimed there was an active shooter in the store but that was not the case as Police learned later.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Alexander Yell was confronted in the store for allegedly stealing merchandise. then leaving the store.

The Loss Prevention Officer confronted Yell in the lot where the suspect allegedly displayed a gun and threatened the worker.

Yell was shot several times by the LOP, witnesses claimed to hear anywhere from 4-6 shots. It is not known if Yell fired at the guard.

 WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?

Yell fled to his vehicle and left the scene, then after getting a tip Police were able to located him at a nearby location.

Yell was taken to an area hospital for treatment, his condition is not known.

According to sources, it's not likely the LOP will face any charges for his actions.

This incident remains an active investigation.
