Back on May 6th, we reported on a wanted suspect being searched for by Kennewick Police. Now, he's in custody after having been apparently beat up himself.

Big Bird gets bounced and beaten over the weekend.

The suspect, Jose Torres, was wanted earlier for at least two felony charges involving possession of stolen vehicles. The 26-year-old had eluded capture partly because of the new police laws preventing chases unless officers actually 'saw' the perp committing a crime while driving.

However, now Torres is in the Benton County jail after his weekend went from bad to worse.  Saturday shortly after noon, Officers were called to the area of 4th Ave. and Rainier--an area that is known for a lot of police calls--for a report of an assault.

Witness descriptions of the victim matched an earlier description seen by an officer, where Torres was spotted driving a stolen car. When Police arrived at the assault scene they spotted him but he fled. Containment was set up around the Kennewick  Housing Authority area and the search began.

Torres was later spotted by a witness in the 1500 block of West 4th., where he was apprehended without incident.

Torress, whose street name said police, is Big Bird, is now facing additional charges from this incident. It has been pointed out he looks more like Gonzo from Sesame Street, either way, he's finally in jail.
