West Richland Releases Plans for New Police Station
On the heels of finalizing the sale of 92 acres from the Port of Kennewick to the City of West Richland (the old Tri-City Raceway property), the police department has released the first image of what the new station will look like.
Slated to be about 22,500 square feet, it will occupy about five of the 92 acres. The new facility will contain holding cells, much more administrative space, and other needed upgrades from the old station.
Construction is expected to begin by fall of 2020, there is still a 45-day review process and finalizing or closing the purchase. The land was purchased by the Port from former track owner Paul Alderman.
The facility was originally planned to be on Bombing Range Road, between Paradise and Keen, but area residents voice opposition to have a police station in their proximity.
