The new program that just began with Lourdes Counseling workers riding with police officers in the Tri-Cities was put into use early Monday morning.

Kennewick officers were called to the Trios Southridge ER about a second disturbance involving a woman there.

Police say in the early morning hours 30-year-old Maribel Rivera was arrested and booked into the Benton County jail after she allegedly attacked a doctor who was trying to get her back to her room. Police say they'd been called previously about an incident involving her, but this time the assault resulted in arrest.

A VCR (crisis response worker) was brought in by their officer to defuse the situation, said police. It is not yet known why Rivera allegedly attack the doctor.
