A would-be fisherman discovered despite appearances, shallow water in the Columbia and other rivers can conceal vehicle sucking mud that just won't let go.

Franklin County Deputies responded to a report of a stranded man, who apparently was  trying to access a 'better' fishing spot in the Columbia on the Franklin County side.

The man became stuck in the sticky slimy mud Tuesday afternoon, and was not able to get out. He's OK, but the towing bill is not going to be cheap. Authorities remind drivers and recreators not to push the limits and think just because water is "shallow" or looks OK, it's likely not.
