A WSU track and field athlete has been arrested by authorities for alledgely running an Oxycodone pill scheme.  Nathaniel Washington, who runs track for WSU was pulled over near the WSU Campus.

His car was searched and police found $35,000 worth of Oxycondone pills, $2,000 in cash, and an AK-47 rifle.  While that type of gun is legal to possess in WA state, police did not say if Washington had the proper permits.   Earlier, undercover officers acting on a tip had followed him to Seattle where Washington was to pick up a supply of the prescription only medicine from a "dealer."   Undercover informants bought pills from the suspect several times before officers moved on him.  While it is not terribly unusual to find someone trafficing prescription meds, authorities are concerned about the amount of drugs, and the assault rifle in the trunk of his Mercedes he was driving.  No word from WSU if Washington will lose his scholarship. For now it appears the only running he will doing will be to make sure he doesn't miss his next court appearance--he was released on bond.
