The Yakima County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate a fatal shooting from Sunday afternoon near Wapato.

Elderly man was arguing with wife prior to shooting

Around 3:30 PM Deputies were called to the 2100 block of Ashue Road, a location about two miles northwest of Wapato.

The initial report given to authorities was two grandparents arguing then a shot was fired.

When Deputies arrived, they found the deceased woman in a bedroom. They were able to interview an adult grandchild as well as the deceased woman's husband. During the argument, a firearm was produced and one shot was fired. The husband, whose name was not yet released, admitted to firing the weapon.

The deceased woman has been identified as 74-year-old Olivia Lucille Lawrence from Wapato, her autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, October 24th.

Yakima County officials say the man was taken into custody and is facing 1st. Degree Manslaughter charges. The investigation continues, no other details have been released.
