Kennewick police didn't have to go far, or wait long, to get their man.

It's likely the amount of press coverage and police searches probably "encouraged" Jeremy Schuler (no age or address given) to turn himself into Kennewick police late Thursday evening.

Authorities didn't elaborate when or how he did it, but Schuler was wanted in connection with the armed robbery of two people on Canal Drive and Cleveland Streets Thursday afternoon that resulted in a one-hour lockdown of Kamiakin and Tri-Tech High Schools, as well as Vista Elementary.

Around 12:30pm, 38-year-old Brenda Buckely of Richland and a 17-year-old male were in a car at the Break Place Conoco on Canal and Edison, when Schuler approached them.

He told them he was a friend of the 17-year-old, and asked for a ride.  After being dropped off at Canal and Cleveland, Schuler displayed a gun and robbed the two of cash. He then fled on foot, prompting the school lockdowns.  A K-9 unit was not able to locate him, but he is now in police custody.
