Kennewick police apprehended a theft suspect who didn't realize he was on "not so candid camera!"

Kyle Trapp, age not listed by police, was arrested while stealing metal and materials from Washington Surplus, located at 1426 E. 3rd Ave.

The owner told police he'd recently been the victim of a break-in so he installed a security system that included real-time cameras.    Shortly after 1am Monday, the alarm at Washington Surplus was tripped and the owner was able to watch Tripp during the theft.

Police were notified by the owner,  who caught Tripp in the act. At the time of his arrest, he had already placed at least $18,000 worth of materials into his vehicle!

Police do not know if this incident, or Trapp, are related to the recent string of commercial break-ins in Kennewick.  The investigation continues.  Trapp was arrested on 1st. Degree Theft, and an outstanding Department of Corrections felony warrant.
