Former Washington Governor Booth Gardner Passes at 76

SEATTLE (AP) â The daughter of Booth Gardner says the family is very sad to lose the two-term Washington state governor whose biggest political effort came long after he left the state Capitol. Gardner, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, spearheaded a campaign that made Washington the second state in the country to legalize assisted suicide for the terminally ill. A family spokesman says he died at age 76 on Friday of complications related to the disease.
