According to the Kennewick School District Thursday, two Park Middle School students thought it would be "funny" to make a written threat against the school located near 10th and Garfield. The District released this statement:

"SAFETY CONCERN REPORTED: Unfortunately, we had two students who decided to write new shooting threats in a restroom today at Park Middle School.

We quickly identified the students using a security video recording. Kennewick Police were notified and the students were emergency expelled. When interviewed by police and administrators, the students indicated that they thought it would be funny and that they were not serious about the threat.

We can’t emphasize enough how important it is that parents speak with their children about how these threats impact our community and that there will be consequences for bad choices.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these difficult situations. We care about the well-being of all of our students and will continue to take all of these reports seriously."
