Kennewick police are still sifting through details of a violent assault that occurred early Thursday morning.

Dwayne Bateman was reportedly assaulted by three suspects and suffered a significant laceration to his chest.

Around 3 a.m. police responded to a disturbance call in a parking lot at 1326 West. 7th place, and found Bateman.

He thought he’d been cut with a beer bottle, but officers later found a 3-inch knife nearby that had what appeared to be blood on the blade.

Bateman indicated his attackers were three Hispanic males who had confronted him.  Police later detained three suspects who were in a car that matched the description of a vehicle seen leaving the area of the assault.
