The Benton County prosecutors office will be examining the evidence to see if charges are warranted.

According to the Sheriff's Department, a man is accused of hitting a mail truck with shotgun pellets as he was shooting at pigeons on East Locust Grove Road.

The incident, which occurred Tuesday, occurred in the 96000 block on private land. Some of the pellets struck a passing mail truck, but no one was injured.

Deputies investigated the area and incident, and learned the man had permission to be on the land, and the shooting appeared to be an accident, perhaps a bad coincidence.  He was not arrested.
