Tuesday morning, the Grant County Sheriff's Office reported the body of a man who fell off an inflatable raft in the Columbia River has been recovered.

The man fell off raft early Saturday evening.

We had reported earlier the search had shifted from rescue to a recovery mission by the Grant County Sheriff's Office and the King County Dive Rescue and Columbia Basin Dive Rescue.

Around 6:20 PM Saturday evening, the man, whose name and hometown have not been released yet, was floating on an inflatable raft about 50-100 yards offshore near the popular Crescent Bar Recreation area on the Columbia, about ten miles west of Quincy in Grant County.

Witnesses saw the man fall off, but he did not resurface.  Emergency workers and searchers scoured the waters from Saturday evening through Monday, at which time the operation was shifted to a recovery mission.

Around 10:45 AM Monday, the GCSO said they were able to recover the man's body, and he will receive a standard procedure autopsy by the Grant County Coroner.

The GCSO thanked the Crescent Bar community and surrounding areas for their offers of help and assistance, the GCSO said "The burden was lightened by kindness."
