While the identity of the man who finally surrendered to SWAT team officers in Prosser Wednesday evening has not yet been revealed, officials say he has a criminal background.

Around 6pm Wednesday, the SWAT team was called to a home in the 1200 block of Stacy Avenue after the man refused to leave the home.  Officers say the man, who is from Granger, was the subject of an arrest warrant related to the Department of Corrections.

The man refused to leave, so the SWAT team was brought in, and he finally surrendered shortly before 9pm.  Officials say the man has a previous history of threatening officers during previous arrests, so every precaution was taken to ensure their safety.

Officials didn't say if the suspect was armed.  More information is expected to be released soon.
