After being found guilty July 3,  Pasco shooter will spend over 4 decades in prison.

In one of the most widely publicized murder cases in Tri-City history,  Tashia Stuart's claim of self-defense was not believed by the jury.   She was accused of fatally shooting her mother, Judy Hebert, in March 2011 in her West Pasco home.

She received 30 years of the sentence for the shooting, and 15 years on the attempted murder charge she was also tried on.   She had claimed Hebert came at her and tried to assault her, but significant testimony and evidence led the jury to conclude that was not the case.

The defense has filed an appeal in the verdict.
