A well-known former race car driver at Tri-City Raceway was one of two people found dead in a West Pasco home in May.

The victim, 29-year-old Monique V. Williams, was a popular medical field worker who died after she was fatally shot by her former boyfriend, Aaron Newport.

Pasco police labeled the incident "domestic murder-suicide,"  saying Newport reportedly entered Williams' home through a doggy door on the weekend of May 17th.   A pistol found at the scene, plus other evidence led police to conclude Newport entered the home, struggled with Williams, and shot her in the head that Saturday.   Investigators found extensive wounds consistent with Williams trying to fight off her attacker, they said she put up a significant fight.

Police were called to the home on Redonda Drive in Pasco Monday morning after friends of Williams had not seen her and were worried.   Newport, who apparently turned the gun on himself, was found dead next to her in a bedroom.

Prosecutors said there was no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in the crime.  The incident created a firestorm of comment in the Tri-Cities about domestic violence, and the need to protect victims.

The two had been in a relationship, but had broken up sometime earlier.
