A competitive youth football program planning to play teams from all across North America is holding tryouts today at Lampson Stadium, and again on Aug. 2 and Aug. 16. The teams have a shot at playing in a national tournament in Texas.

James Canada, a Kennewick police officer and head coach of Tri-City Elite, contacted us today to let us know about an amazing opportunity for gifted football players in middle school.

Tri-City Elite is affiliated with Football University (FBU), which he describes as the NFL for the middle school level. FBU teams play other teams all over the country and the top 64 compete in an NCAA-style playoff tournament. Tri-City Elite got permission to represent the Columbia Basin and Oregon in the FBU tournament.'

To fill out the teams for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, Canada is holding tryouts. Call him at 509-948-2390 to learn more. More are planned for September, but are not yet scheduled.

Canada's teams have previously competed against similar teams from San Francisco, Alaska and Arizona. He hopes to take a team to the Army All American Bowl in Texas just prior to the U.S. Army All American Bowl for high school athletes.
