Franklin County Prosecutor Sean Sant will have a lot of work to do.

Thursday, Sant received four binders each three inches thick after the Special Investigations Unit finished their look at the fatal shooting of Antonio Zambrano-Montes in Pasco in February.

Sant says the thousands of pages will take about 30 days to go through completely, before any decisions are made about charges against the three officers involved. At that time the information will also be made public.

A delay could result as well in this process due to the inquest expected to be called by Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdel.  It could occur, according to his words at a press conference, in summer. Sant seemed to indicate in the press conference that any federal charges would have to do with violation of civil rights (Zambrano's) but the SIU report largely deals with the use of force and whether it was justified or not.
