UPDATE -2- ON ENTERPRISE MS STUDENT PROTEST--

We are now being told as of about noon Wednesday, Feb 9th, the number of students involved in the protest is up to 70. Our source who has first-hand information reported this a short while ago:

(the students)..."They are required to sit on chairs distanced apart where before they could sit on floor together."    ('the students' added for proper context)

UPDATE ON STUDENT MASK PROTEST AT ENTERPRISE MS

As of 10:30 AM, our source has informed us that the 50-something students who staged the mask mandate protest at Enterprise MS in RSD are being "held" in the "small gym" area.  Reportedly, paper was put over the door windows to the area. Here's more from our direct source:

(students)..."being held in the small gym separate from everyone else. They put the paper up after they put the kids in there and they were told once they are put in the gym they can’t come out."   (word students was added for context).

REST OF STORY IS BELOW---------------------

The protest began around 7:45 AM Wednesday morning, Feb 9th.

RICHLAND MS STUDENTS PROTESTING AT ENTERPRISE MIDDLE SCHOOL

A source at the scene has told us a group of at least 50 middle school students are staging a protest at Enterprise Middle School in West Richland, part of the Richland School District.

The source supplied us with this information:

"...They gathered at 7:45 and walked in as a group. Started with 30 kids and then 30 minutes later total was at 50. Started they were put in the cafeteria and now put them in the small gym without tables to work on. Students are sitting on gym floor to do their work. Small group of parents outside."

We received this information around 9:33 AM Wednesday. This protest comes on the heels of some surprising levy votes in the Tri-Cities Tuesday. While Richland was passing their two levies (operational and tech improvements) they were by less than a 3-4 percent margin, considerably lower than usual.

Kennewick voters were rejecting their operational levy by about 51-48 percent, but were passing the tech improvement vote.

Prosser's operational levy, counting Benton County votes (Some come from Yakima County) was failing 55-45, and at last tally (until today's update later) Finley's operation levy was failing by 2 votes.

We will continue to update this event, as well as area voting today, Wednesday.
