In the latest in what has seemingly been and endless stream of litigation, yet another environmental group is suing the government over allegations that several dozen Northwest dams threaten bull trout habitats.

The so-called Alliance For the Wild Rockies group filed the suit in Portland, OR this week, naming the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the Bonneville Power Administration as defendants.

This group claims the three failed to complete consultations with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on how to operate the dams in areas that allegedly have sensitive bull trout habitat areas.

The group is asking a federal judge to force them to complete these consultations, which were legally required, and make the necessary changes in dam operations. Some 26 dams around the Pacific Northwest are named in the suit. The trout are named as a threatened species by the government.

The Alliance For the Wild Rockies (AWR) has run afoul before, from trying to derail developmental projects using misinformation, to being investigated by journalists for launching over 150 frivolous lawsuits trying to stop Montana timber harvests.
