Sunday evening, a Grinch robber committed one of the worst types of crime by stealing the tip jar from a Kennewick coffee establishment.

According to Kennewick police, around 5:15 pm, employees at the Roaster's Coffee Stand on North Columbia Center Blvd. were confronted by a juvenile male, who's name was not released, who was armed with a knife.

The 17-year-old and his female companion took the tip jar, containing about $40 in cash.  Thanks to help from neighboring businesses and witnesses, police were able to trace their path. It led to the nearby Kohls Department store where they reportedly changed clothes. Then they went to Jack In the Box where the teen and his companion were arrested.

The Grinch thief still had in his possession the items he was wearing at the time of the robbery!  The specific charges facing the robber were not released, but likely at least Armed Robbery.
