Kennewick police now say a man who reported his truck stolen on Sunday morning was in fact himself trying to break into a business at that time.

Around 6am, police were called to the 500 block of East Bruneau where William Kelly told him his maroon 1992 Chevy truck with canopy had been taken.  He'd left the keys sitting on the front seat. Seems a guy riding by on a bike stopped, looked inside, saw the keys. He threw his bike in the back, hopped in and took off.

But then police learned from a quick investigation that Kelly was believed to be trying to steal items from a nearby business himself! He is now in the Benton County jail on various charges, but his truck so far is nowhere to be found.

A surveillance camera captured this footage, anyone with any information on the truck is urged to call (509)-628-0333. All leads can be confidential.
