Car Thief Jumps From Moving Car, Tree Finishes off Chase
It was a busy early morning time for Kennewick Police Monday.
Shortly after 2AM an officer on patrol spotted a white Acura sedan that matched the description of one reported stolen out of Benton City. As the officer prepared to stop the vehicle near West 6th. Ave and South Quincy, the driver refused to stop. However, he briefly pull over near 7th and Olympia Place to drop off a female passenger. The stop was not long enough for the officer to jump out and try to apprehend the driver.
The chase continued, then slowed to nearly a 'crawl' before the driver, identified as 30-year-old Isaiah Henning, finally got out and got down on the ground as ordered by officers. HOWEVER, he didn't bother to stop the car first.
The Acura continued to slowly drive away at 'idle' speed before it ran into a tree in the 6400 block of West 1st. Ave.
Henning had several outstanding warrants and faces more felonies for this alleged theft and pursuit.
Oh, and that woman he dropped off during the chase? 22-year-old Randea Cravens was interviewed and released, apparently was NOT involved in the theft.
