What Happened to this Phone in Selah Police Department? We Give You the Answer!

Just imagine if your phone looked like this from angry customers...

Recently one of our staff was traveling when they came across this telephone in the Selah Police Department.   Note the little placard reading "direct line to complaint department."   Now do you believe the irate callers did this, or not?

How did this phone get this way?   Turns out, according to our intrepid reporter, some years ago the phone was the victim of a fire in a trash can that was located directly below where the phone was located.   It turned it into a glob of melted plastic and metal - true story! Police officials would not officially confirm or deny if it was an actual complaint phone, but we suspect somebody with a sense of humor added the sign to the phone stand!
