Beginning January 1st, you won't be able to test for a Commercial Drivers License at Hermiston Department of Motor Vehicles.  Private companies taking over task.

Wednesday, the Oregon DMV announced three locations will stop offering the CDL test, and applicants will be referred to various private testers who will take over the job.

The locations include Albany, Ontario and Hermiston. No reason was given for the change, but perspective drivers can obtain the necessary information at the Oregon DMV website for taking the test. A CLD is required for driving any and all commercial vehicles that exceed 26,000 pounds in gross vehicle weight, or rated weight, and if the vehicle transports 16 people or more.  It also applies to any vehicle used to transport hazardous materials.

Drivers with questions about costs, or any potential increases will need to see the DMV website and check with the private testing companies.
