When it first came out, several media outlets on the west side reported Gov. Inslee considered his new indoor-outdoor vax proof mandate as an "incentive."

Actually, it's more browbeating by forcing people to consider the vaccine if they want to attend an event, but that's another story.

GOVERNOR THINKS REQUIRING PROOF OF VACCINE IS AN INCENTIVE

In mid-October, Gov. Inslee said all indoor events (sports, concerts, school plays, etc) with 1,000 persons or more were going to be subject to mandatory proof of vaccine, or a negative COVID test no more than 72 hours prior to the event.

As KING-5 TV and other outlets reported two months ago, he considers it another of his "incentives."   Actually, it's more browbeating by forcing people to consider the vaccine if they want to attend an event, but that's another story.

Going forward from Monday (today) November 15th, all 'public' events, regardless of nature, that have an indoor attendance of 1,000 persons or more will require vax proof or a negative COVID test within 72 hours for you to attend.

We do know this will affect the Western Hockey League, including the Tri-City Americans. Currently, they've been doing better than a number of WHL franchises, especially in Canada. The Am's have been averaging anywhere from 2,500 to 2,700 fans for their first slate of home games. That's not bad considering the mask requirements and other factors.

But now people are wondering how this will be enforced? Especially for public school events.

We've reached out to Richland Kennewick Schools to find out if they will be basing this upon the capacity size of the facility, OR, will someone actually be standing there with a clicker counting spectators?  Will it be based upon ticket sales?

A typical high-stakes HS basketball game can draw upwards of 1,000 fans, especially towards the end of the season.

WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL PERFORMANCES? BAND? CHOIR?

Many parents are wondering about their child's school choir or band performances? Will these be affected? We will update this story as more information becomes available.
