Pasco Police and fire units now say the quick thinking of some construction workers likely saved a home in West Pasco on Wednesday.

Workers see flames climbing the wall of a home

According to Pasco Police, a crew from C & E Trenching was doing some construction next to a home in Chelan Court, off Road 100.

The workers noticed flames climbing the outside wall of the home, and they sprang into action. One of them jumped the fence with a fire extinguisher and began to knock down the flames until another one could reposition the front 'water gun' on their large tanker truck. He then began to hose down the side of the home and knocked out the fire.

Pasco PD say when they and fire units arrived, the fire was basically out

Because of the crew being next door and their quick thinking, the home was likely saved from a lot worse damage. The fire was mainly confined to the siding and some of the materials underneath. Pasco Fire units mopped up, no one was injured.

Several other people in the neighborhood helped a man and woman who live in the home escape safely.

Pasco PD says the exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but it could have been the spontaneous combustion of some organic compost and materials in a plant pot that was sitting right next to the side of the home.
