Death of Benton County Detective Likely a Suicide

Although the investigation continues, the death of the officer is being looked as a suicide.

47-year-old Detective Sergeant Kevin C. McCary was found Saturday under a tree at his Eltopia home, he was dead from a single gunshot wound.

Benton county officials said they were not releasing any statements or additional information at this time, but more is expected. McCary, who was a life-long resident of the area, was out on medical leave at the time of his death.

He also served as a spokesman for the Benton County Sheriff's office.
