A visit to the McDonald's Wednesday on South 9th Ave. in Walla Walla was spoiled for customers when three people got in a physical fight over panhandling.

Around 10am police were called to the restaurant in the 800 block.  Police say an 18-year-old man and his accomplice confronted another man and claimed he was in "their spot."

The 18-year-old, identified as Riley N. Gribnau, allegedly pulled a knife during the confrontation, and threatened the victim. He was arrested and is now in the Walla Walla County jail facing charges. Police did not say if any injuries resulted from the brief but shocking confrontation.

Some say this will likely spur a renewed call for a crackdown on panhandling in this area and in Walla Walla in general.

Comments left on the Walla Walla Police Department's Facebook site call for a crackdown on the practice.
