Police now say they believe the 20-year-old man, whose name was not released, was likely distracted by something behind the wheel when he drove his car into the side of a building on Cherry Street.
Saturday evening, around 7:30 PM the man's car crashed into the Kinglet Restaurant, located at 55 Cherry Street in Walla Walla.
Of the 100 or so people inside at the time of the incident, no one was hurt. However, the driver had to be taken to an area hospital. His condition was not released.
Walla Walla Police say the case continues to be investigated, and that the restaurant and that area of the building will remain closed until city inspectors can verify it is safe for occupancy. Obviously, it will require repairs to the wall and other areas.
WWPD officials don't think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
