A Walla Walla police officer nearly got the ride of his life from a driver who tried to fight then fled in his truck during a traffic stop near West Whitman Driver and McKinney Road.

Around 3:45pm Sunday afternoon, the officer pulled over this truck and learned the man behind the wheel was driving on a suspended license. As the officer was placing him under arrest, the driver tried to fight the officer as he was exiting the truck.

He then sped off nearly dragging the policeman with him. The officer, along with College Place police and Washington State Patrol, gave chase. As he was fleeing, the drive smashed through a gate at a home on Rome Road, and then abandoned his truck and fled into a cornfield. However, officers caught him and dropped him in about :60 seconds.

He's now facing multiple charges stemming from the incident.
