Drunk Driver Plows Hydrant, Floods Van Giesen and Cop Shop Lot
City crews have since taken car of the mess, repairs being made. But Monday, Van Giesen was muddy and ugly.
West Richland Police say an errant driver (who's being investigated for DUI) slammed his Ford truck into a fire hydrant. It just so happened the fire hydrant was close to the new West Richland Police Station, it not only covered the area, but flooded the police station parking lot.
Within minutes a flood of mud, rocks and water was covering a wide area. Traffic was diverted and after a few hours cleanup was done.
The driver was not hurt, but his wallet will be--between the repair bill and likely DUI charges.
