A lot of unanswered questions remain about an early Tuesday morning assault in Kennewick that left a man in the hospital.

Around 4AM Kennewick Police say they received a call for a welfare check, information apparently led to the discovery of a 32-year-old man found close by Highway 397 in the Nine Mile Canyon area.

Authorities say he had injuries to his head and face, and was taken to the ER. His condition is not known.  Apparently the course of the investigation led Police and Deputies to search a home in the 2100 Block of West 21st. Place in Kennewick and after a lengthy time outside, entered the home with a K-9 unit, but the suspects were not found. BCSO says one person is in custody in connection with the incident however.

Reports indicate a car was taken as part of the investigation which is ongoing.
