Fatal Crash Triggered by Semi Blowing Stop Sign Near George
Failure to stop at a stop sign cost two men their lives Wednesday afternoon near State Route 283 and Adams Road in Grant County, northeast of George.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating because the crash occurred on a state highway.
Around 3:30PM, a large industrial truck driven by 37-year-old Christopher J. Crisostomo was driving on Adams Road when he failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection with the state highway.
A 31-year-old man identified as Rigoberto Marmolejo Garcia of Royal City, was crossing the intersection in his Chevy pickup when the truck driven by Crisostomo slammed into the driver's side. A 52-year-old passenger with him was killed as was Garcia. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to reports, all three persons were wearing seatbelts. Crisostomo may be facing two counts of vehicular homicide. According to KEPR-TV a WSP accident report said drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
