Were it not for several nearby fishermen, a swimmer in the Columbia this morning (Thursday) might not have made it.

Shortly before 9AM, a swimmer was heard being in "distress" as Deputies put it, apparently somewhat far from shore.  A trio of fishermen happened to be close enough to hear it, and were able to help Deputies get the man out of the water by transporting them to the spot.

The man was safely brought ashore, and from the picture was able to walk away eventually. Deputies said the men refused any thanks, but we will anyway (as did the Deputies).

Thank you-Jon Stratton, Gary Peasley, Christopher Eastep, they likely saved this man's life.
