Kennewick Police announced Thursday afternoon a rape suspect is in custody, he's the same one who was charged with being the getaway driver from an assault on a person at a Trump rally along Columbia Center Boulevard in fall 2020.

26-year-old Brandon Lamon Jones was arrested after a woman reported she was raped on May 28th.  At that time, the female told police she was sexually assaulted at gunpoint around 10:41 AM at a location in the 7100 block of West Clearwater in Kennewick.   Not a lot of details were released about the specifics of their meeting that day.

Police said this was not a random assault, the two had met previously online. Following the investigation, police say evidence developed to charge Jones with Rape in the 1st. Degree.

Thursday morning around 9:15 AM he was located in Kennewick at a location in the 6400 block of West 4th. Place and taken into custody without incident.

Jones, who also has an online social media presence under the name of Vic Stoned, was one of the 'cooler' heads initially during the George Floyd summer.  He was part of a widely publicized meeting between Kennewick Police and local social justice leaders, praising the department for its efforts in that area.

However, just a few months later, he was identified as the getaway driver from an assault on a Trump supporter at a rally along Columbia Center Boulevard on September 26th. 2020.  During the assault, a man's face was bloodied, and he suffered bruising from a head butt, initially, it was thought he had a broken nose. The assault suspect jumped from a vehicle, head-butted the victim, then jumped back in the vehicle Jones was driving, and they sped away.

 After charges were filed, Jones disappeared, and the social justice movement dried up in our area. However, he was(is) also involved in a small group called Unbound, which made a series of demands on leadership and authorities in our area. They attempted to be active in 2021 but also disappeared for the most part--at least publicly.

He is currently being held in the Benton County jail.
