Get Your History On Sept. 25-26! Two Great Events in Mid Columbia
There are TWO festivals the weekend of Sept. 25-26 featuring live actors doing historical re-enactments. Here's where to go:
- 1
Sacajawea Heritage Days
Sacajawea State Park off A Street on the far east end of PascoIt's free entry day so bring a fishing pole and kayak if you wish. I love this event because of all the tents and actors using blacksmith tools, working with animal skins, practicing historical cooking, etc. I learn something new about Washington history every time I go. The museum is also open and occasionally one of the Native American tribes brings a display or does a performance.
- 2
The Frenchtown Rendezvous 2015
Saturday only in Lowden between Touchet and College PlaceFrenchtown celebrates its history as part of the fur trade (think Jeremiah Johnson, Kit Carson and Jim Bridger as well as Ft. Vancouver) on Sept. 26. The “Frenchtown Family Album” will be from 1-5 p.m. at the Frenchtown Hall in Lowden. Tickets for this fundraising event are on sale now. The event includes a tri-tip dinner, living history presentations, music, historical displays, a silent auction, and raffles for a hot-air balloon ride and a Wildhorse Resort & Casino stay. Raffle tickets are $5.
Proceeds will go toward maintenance and development of the historic site. Tickets are available by calling Judith Fortney at 529-8210 or emailing to frenchtownpartners@charter.net.
