Police and fire crews were called to a Kennewick residence early Tuesday morning, after the homeowner found a man in their yard, badly burned.

Authorities say the homeless man told them he was trying to cook some food when he set himself on fire.

The man was in the yard of the home in the 600 block of South Hartford, and was found around 9AM. He had what police said were "serious" burns to his head and face.

The 30-year-old man was taken to Trios ER Southridge with those serious burns. No word on his condition. No word on what type of tools he was using, or what type of fuel he was using to try to cook.
