Beginning this Monday, March 8th, and for a period of approximately the following three weeks, the Kennewick Irrigation District (KID) will be performing operational tests to get ready for spring, and they are asking people to turn off their irrigation connection points while they do their testing.

The operational testing will be conducted on certain systems throughout the District. Operational testing is performed on systems that have a water source, such as a pond, and have the ability to pressurize the pipeline system servicing your home prior to the normal irrigation season beginning.

Each system generally takes 2-3 days to test, which will begin each morning and may last until 7:00 p.m. More information can be found here, under the “Water Status Map” tab for updates to the exact spot on the calendar in which the pressure test will occur in your neighborhood.

An overview of the map's colors shows those in green have the earliest test period, March 8th-March 10th, followed by neighborhoods highlighted in yellow March 15th-March 17th and finally the purple portion of the map is scheduled to run testing March 22nd-March 24th.

Due to the complexity of the system, some areas cannot be tested ahead of time.

Operational testing reduces future service interruptions and helps to determine where maintenance activities are needed before water is regularly available for your system.
