King County, Spokane Democratic Committees Face Campaign Finance Violations
In a double-whammy, two Democratic Central Committees as well as several members are the subject of legal action filed this week by Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson.
In separate actions, two members of the Spokane Committee were accused of failing to report over $204,000 in campaign contributions and expenditures. Former Chairman Jim CastroLang and Treasurer Justin Galloway were named in the suit. After receiving numerous complaints, an investigation was launched in 2017. Numerous charges are levied in the suit.
The King County Democratic Central Committee is accused of not reporting over $130,000 in contributions or expenses. They're also accused of not filing proper reports with the state. The suit says there are numerous violations, including failing to start filing proper reports until after the Public Disclosure Committee began their investigation. These allegations stem from the 2016 political season.
In both cases, the state is seeking penalties in both cases.
