Multi-Vehicle Fire Caused by Hot Embers Blown From Smoldering Fire Pit in Kennewick
Fire destroyed several vehicles in Kennewick on Saturday.
The Kennewick Police Department and Kennewick Fire Department were called out to a possible residential fire on Saturday at about 3:20 pm in the area of North Volland Street and West Metaline Avenue. Heavy smoke was seen in the area as multiple arborvitae trees were on fire.
Multiple vehicles were on fire at a residence.
The vehicles were at a home in the 4500 block of West Metaline Avenue. Police evacuated residents from the structures endangered by the fires.
How did the fires start?
When all the residents were out of the threatened structures, it was learned the fire started from a smoldering fire pit near the arborvitae trees. Hot embers were blown onto the trees which sparked the fire. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Kennewick Police Department at 509-628-0333.
