Years ago, information and data sharing like we have today with computers and the internet wasn't available; this suspect might have gone unnoticed.

Kennewick police announced Friday they've arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with downloading and possessing  child pornography.  The arrest was the result of an investigation that began in October.

Kennewick police received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Seattle Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.   The tip had information about several images determined to be child pornography that had been downloaded by the suspect, who was in the Tri-Cities.

Police then arrested Jonathan Tavarez-Trujillo at a residence in the 1400 block of West 4th. in Kennewick.  Authorities found at least two such images had been accessed and downloaded by the suspect.   He was booked into the Benton County jail on Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct.     Especially over the last few years,  the laws and penalties concerning child pornography have been greatly expanded.

Authorities did not say if the suspect had accessed or downloaded any additional images, the investigation continues.
